The Samba

Name of Dance:Samba
Origin: Samba originated in Brazil where it gradually developed from a carnival dance into its present ballroom style. Many steps can be traced back to the Maxixe danced in 1910s. Its distinctive uneven rhythm gives it a smooth, tilting, rocking motion and the characteristic samba “bounce.”
Meter:4/4
Count:Quick & Quick, Quick & Quick
Styling Notes: The samba often uses a pendulum-like action (a smooth up-and-down, back-and-forth movement) that is caused by bending and straightening of the knees. It should be danced in a lively and lighthearted manner.
